Text Message, SMS Marketing: The Power is in the Details

Mobile marketing, sms advertising, text message marketing text coupons, etc. Lots of phrases for essentially the same thing…advertising right to your consumer’s cell phone. It is amazing to see people immediately opt-in to databases and to see coupon/offer redemption rates sometimes upwards of thirty percent! It’s the businesses who are respecting the consumer’s cell phone screen that are calculating significant ROI from mobile marketing.

Let me explain what I mean by “respecting the consumer’s cell phone screen” when it comes to sms marketing and text advertising. Mobile marketing is not to be treated like radio or television, where you simply craft a message and blast it out over the air waves. When it comes to text message marketing, you already have the consumer’s attention so just get them the information or offer they signed up for. And contract with them how often they should respect messages when you are asking them to sign up. Once a month? Three times a week? If you manage their expectation, you will be much better off.
